Friends of Pimpollo is a nonprofit organization based in Salem, Oregon with the mission to provide educational opportunities to children and their families living in the impoverished regions of Oaxaca and Chiapas, Mexico. For the past 15 years, our organization has been a pillar of hope to communities lacking educational opportunities. With the help of generous donors, we’ve seen hopeless, illiterate children transformed into confident, joyful college graduates ending the cycle of generational poverty. This work was initiated in Salem and continues to be supported by this community!
Tamale Trot is a family-friendly benefit 5k/10K run/walk scheduled for Saturday, October 28th that will raise new funds to support emerging programs in Southern Mexico. Today, Friends of Pimpollo provides a nutritious school lunch to 600 children each month; room, board, and college scholarships to 16 young adults; adult education to 200; and care for the most vulnerable orphans. You can be among the first to get involved in this very exciting, fun, and impacting event!
The race itself is in downtown Salem along the breathtaking Salem Waterfront. The course is well-supported and will take you along the waterfront running path and over the new Mento walking bridge.
