HODIE, Sunday Nov. 20 4 PM
This holiday-themed concert includes two choral works by Ralph Vaugan Williams. Hodie is a compilation of all his musical styles, including plainchant, beautiful melodies, modal harmonies, and dramatic blockbuster choruses in the nature of “Ben Hur”. In addition to a large orchestra and choir, the work will feature the Heart of the Valley Children’s Choir, soprano soloist Bethany Staats, tenor Daniel Ross, and baritone Harry Baechtel, the featured soloist for Vaughan Willam’s Fantasia on Christmas Carols.
SING WE NOW OF CHRISTMAS Sunday Dec. 18 4 PM
Celebrate the Holiday Season with traditional carols performed by a select ensemble, the FCO Festival Carolers, dressed in Victorian costume. Enjoy audience sing-along carols and a special story for children, with familiar Christmas songs you remember from bygone years. This event has become a beloved family tradition for many, a lovely time for smiling and setting stress aside.
MESSA DI GLORIA, Sunday March 5 4 PM
The “Messe” is so operatic in nature that with a change of lyrics and addition of a plot, it could easily be seen onstage! FCO will be joined by tenor Les Green and bass/baritone Robb Harrison, and supported by a full orchestra. FCO has fond memories of this piece, having performed it in 1999 at our first concert in Carnegie Hall, under Dr. Holmquist’s direction, where it received an extraordinarily enthusiastic reception by an opera-loving New York audience.
MARS & VENUS, Sunday May 21 4 PM
We’ll be presenting beautiful compositions for men’s and women’s choirs, exploring rich repertoire we haven’t had the chance to explore in FCO. Accompanied by grand piano, solo instruments, and occasionally a cappella, our women and men will perform several selections separately. The choir will conclude by performing together, just to prove it can!
