FROM BEHIND BARBED WIRE: GEORGE NAKATA SPEAKS ON JAPANESE INTERNMENT
George Nakata will share his personal stories about surviving a time when an entire ethnic group was stripped of its freedom and civil rights during World War II due to racism and wartime hysteria. You are invited to listen to Mr. Nakata on Wednesday, October 16 @ noon in Hearing Room C of the Oregon State Capitol. This event is free and open to the public. George was just nine years old when he and nearly 120,000 Japanese Americans were imprisoned in US concentration camps after President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066.
