Event Details

After many years, oceans which cover 70 percent of our earth are finally receiving the conservation attention they deserve. While international waters still prove problematic for such measures, nation and state controlled coastal areas have been making great strides at conserving sites, balancing the need for continued resource use. This talk will focus on the recently established marine protected areas in Oregon waters called the Oregon Marine Reserve system. Topics include a history of the marine reserve process, discussion the objectives of the program and the research findings that have come from these early years of their designation. The program is sponsored by Salem Environmental Education and is open to the public with admission of $5 at the door with students free. For more information contact Jon Yoder at joyoder@wildblue.net.
