Urban Homesteaders: Basic Soap Making

Saturday, September 24th, 2016 | 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

Instructor: Mona Kanner

Making soap was an important skill for our homesteading ancestors; one we are reviving for today’s urban homesteaders.

In this class, we will be making soap with a basic recipe. Working in small groups, we will go through all the steps with explanations of the ingredients, tools and terms, with demonstrations of the steps, and techniques with hands-on experience. You will receive recipes, recommendations of books and tools, with examples of tools you can make, where and how to get products, packaging options, and 2 finished bars of soap.

Preregistration is required by Thursday, September 22nd at 5:00 pm, and costs $45 for WHC members and $50 for nonmembers. There is a $1o materials fee payable to the instructor on the date of the class.
