Respected by the millions of fans who are drawn to her music and undeniable talent, Wynonna’s rich and commanding voice has sold over 30-million albums worldwide spanning her remarkable 34-year career. As one-half of the legendary mother/daughter duo “The Judds,” Wynonna was once dubbed by Rolling Stone as “the greatest female country singer since Patsy Cline.” Wynonna and her band The Big Noise, led by her husband/drummer/producer, Cactus Moser, released their debut full-length album in February 2016 via Curb Records to critical acclaim. Wynonna has described the new sound as “vintage yet modern” and a “return to the well.”

Keith Weathers has inspired audiences with concerts in the tradition of the Sousa band in our annual In the Steps of Sousa concerts since 1993. In his final concert with the band, he will share the podium with John Skelton to take you on a musical tour celebrating some of the finest traditional band literature from home and abroad. You will hear his own Intrada Fuga, music from Suite of Old American Dances by Robert Russell Bennett, and the world premiere of a new trumpet solo by local composer Zach Gulaboff Davis featuring Joan Paddock, trumpet soloist. We’ll take you to the British Isles with samplings from Percy Grainger’s Lincolnshire Posy, The Lochnagar Suite of Nigel Hess, and a sprightly Irish tune to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. We will cross the channel to enjoy music from The Queen of Sheba by Charles Gounod, the Homage March from Sigurd Jorsalfar by Edvard Grieg, and Festive Overture by Dmitri Shostakovich. Our celebration will return home with a stirring rendition of our national march, John Philip Sousa’s The Stars and Stripes Forever.

Event Details
Festival Chorale Oregon invites you to our performance of Mozart’s Great Mass in C minor on Sunday, April 28 at 4 pm at The Elsinore in downtown Salem. Solveig Holmquist, Founding Artistic Director, conducts the 100-voice chorale, joined by Amy Hansen, soprano; Olga Valdez, alto; Les Green, tenor; Ryan LeGrand, baritone; and a symphonic orchestra.
This may be the greatest of all Mozart’s works, not only his finest sacred piece. It is rarely performed outside of Europe. Much of the choral sections are massive in scope, at times calling for double choir, and the brilliant complexity challenges the performers while inspiring the audience.
The Great Mass was composed in 1782 and was the last of many masses composed by Mozart starting when he was 10 years old. The work fulfilled a promise he made to write a mass that would be performed in Salzburg when he he would bring his wife, Constanze, to Salzburg to meet his family for the first time after his father’s earlier opposition. Constanze sang the “Et incarnatus est” at its premiere in Salzburg.
In 2015, Pope Francis told reporters that the “Et incarnatus est” from the work “is matchless; it lifts you to God!”

This is the last musical setting of the mass by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (not counting his Requiem Mass left unfinished at his death). The work embodies pomp and solemnity associated with the Salzburg traditions of the time, and shows the influence of Bach and Handel, whose music Mozart was studying at this time. FRIENDS! The Musical Parody is the hilarious new musical that lovingly lampoons TV’s Friends celebrating the wacky misadventures of your favorite group of 20-something pals as they navigate the pitfalls of work, life, and love in 1990s Manhattan. It’s a seemingly typical day at New York’s only coffee shop, Central Perk, until an unexpected runaway bride with beautiful hair enters the picture and kicks the whole gang out of second gear! This delightfully naughty confection plucks the best moments from the show’s ten years and recreates the moments through an uncensored, fast-paced, music filled romp. You’ll laugh! You’ll cry! You’ll Unagi!
Recommended for mature audiences.

Event Details
Antwone Fisher is an award-winning film and literary writer. Born in an Ohio prison to a teenage mother, Antwone became a ward of the state and was placed in foster care. He spent two years in a loving foster home, but was subsequently moved and suffered twelve years of abuse at the hands of his new foster family.
Antwone has worked in Hollywood for 20 years as a writer and producer, with an impressive fourteen writing projects or assignments with the major studios. Among those projects is the feature classic, Antwone Fisher, directed by and starring Oscar-winning actor Denzel Washington, written by Antwone and based on his own life. The film garnered numerous nominations and awards. Antwone received the renowned Humanitas Prize, the Screenwriter of the Year Award from the National Association of Theater Owners.
About how far he has come, Antwone states, “I think back on a childhood full of longing for belonging, and see my life now as what I have created out of my dreams. An image comes to mind of Mrs. Brown at the orphanage in Cleveland, me sitting at her side, telling her, ‘You’ll read about me someday.’ I was definitely dreaming then. With no evidence of that ever being possible, I clung to that preposterous vision and with the force of those dreams willed it and made it happen. Not because I needed to be famous, but because I needed a world that made me feel uninvited to be wrong, so I imagined myself free, I imagined myself loved, I imagined myself… as somebody.”

Beloved for his intimate, confessional live shows, Colin Hay is widely known for being the influential and celebrated frontman of Men At Work with multi-platinum hits that include Down Under, Who Can It Be Now, and Overkill to name a few. This show will feature Colin Hay and his fantastic band of LA based musicians playing songs from both the Grammy winning Men at Work catalog and his solo work that include hits like Waiting For My Real Life, Beautiful World and many more. He is bound to tell some amusing stories that are such a stalwart feature of his intimate solo shows too. The range of artists who have chosen to cite him as a muse or who have found themselves on stage with him in the past year spans the genre landscape from heavy metal, to Americana, to Cuban rhythms and beyond. His inclusion as a playlist favorite from the likes of Metallica to The Lumineers reflects his continuing relevance and broad appeal.

Event Details
Since giving up his job as a grocery truck driver in 2002, Tim Hawkins has been establishing himself as one of the most in-demand comedians in the country. With over 300 million video views online and over 100 sold-out concerts every year, his Jackwagon Crew has grown into a revolution of multi-generational proportions.
Tim’s gut-busting comedy show entertains the entire family while doubling down on the funny, a daunting task in an age where the obscene has become routine. His act is 1 part gifted 2 parts twisted – the only certainty being his on-the-nose observations that expose the ridiculousness of daily life while marveling in its hilarity. The perils of marriage, homeschooling, and growing up in the Midwest may not exemplify the rock star life, but they make for really good punchlines.
And while his stand-up is riotous, fans are often more amazed at his singing voice and guitar chops. Tim’s hilarious music videos have brought him viral YouTube fame with fan favorites including The Chick-fil-A Song, Yoga Pants, Cletus Take The Reel, and The Government Can. Above all, Tim reminds us that for life’s many trials, laughter is our best medicine – especially when the Prozac runs out.
